She returns to Europe—revisiting the places the two had visited together—to see if she can discover what went wrong between them.

She is the executive editor and co-founder of Other Voices Books and the editor of the fiction section at The Nervous Breakdown. She lives in Chicago with her husband, twin daughters and son, and teaches at Columbia College and Northwestern University.
