Reading & Book Signing
A mix of history, mythology, magic, and religion set in late medieval Europe, Mark Tompkins' captivating debut novel The Last Days of Magic brings to life a world at war over magic's last outpost on earth. Following the assassination of a Celtic goddess by traitorous fairies, the Vatican hands down a mandate to drive out all magic while its powers are weakened. And with that act, a battle between Celtic gods and magical faeries, mad kings and warring Vikings, and duty and desire begins. At this reading and signing just after the book's release, Tompkins will share his enchanting new adventure with us.
Mark Tompkins divides his time between entrepreneurship and the arts. The founder of the Aspen Writers' Network, he serves on the board of Aspen Words, a program of the Aspen Institute. He is a published poet and photographer whose work is held in the permanent collections of museums in the United States and abroad. Born in Texas of Irish ancestry, Tompkins lives in Boston, Houston, and Aspen.
