Reading & Book Signing

A richly imagined novella set in a future long after humanity's end, Lawrence M. Schoen's Barsk brings to life a universe inhabited by walking, talking, sentient animals. Among them is a race of anthropomorphic elephants who have developed Fant, a drug which allows certain users to commune with the recently deceased and reveals a secret the powers that be would prefer to keep buried. Joining us for a reading and signing, Schoen will share his adventurous and philosophical story and explore its profound themes of loyalty, sacrifice, prophecy, memory, predetermination, conspiracy, and intolerance.

Lawrence M. Schoen Lawrence M. Schoen holds a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology and psycholinguistics. He's also one of the world's foremost authorities on the Klingon language, and the publisher of a speculative fiction small press, Paper Golem. He's been a finalist for the John W.
