Reading & Book Signing
The hero of I Am Fartacus, Maciek Trzebiatowski, aka Chub, has been an outcast since second grade, following an incident involving lice killer that left Chub without hair and led his pal Archer to dump him as a friend. When Archer runs for student body president, Chub knows that he will use his power to make Chub's life miserable. So Chub, sidekick Moby, and an eventual cadre of supporters set out to take down Archer once and for all. Colorful commentary, a glum backstory, and details of being the son of Polish immigrants, makes Chub a highly sympathetic narrator. He learns a few things about himself, being a real friend, and the person he'd like to be in this humorous and touching debut from author Mark Maciejewski. Come by the bookstore for a reading from this hilarious coming-of-age story with the author.
Mark Maciejewski was himself infamous through both middle school and high school, but we wont go into details on that. He now lives with his partner in Seattle with four kids, two dogs, two frogs, and two fish. He manages a sales territory for a steel company in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. On the writing front, he is a member of SCBWI and Pacific Northwest Writers Association (PNWA) as well as an intensive, weekly critique group called the Papercuts.
