At Oxford's prestigious Bodleian Library, witches, vampires and demons outnumber humans, but young scholar (and witch) Diana Bishop would rather rely on her intellect than her magic. When she finds a long-lost medieval manuscript documenting the origin of supernatural species she attempts to banish it back to the stacks. Her discovery has not gone unnoticed though. With a fantastical underworld stirring and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires descending on the library, she turns to a 1,500-year-old vampire and renowned geneticist named Matthew Clairmont for help. Magic, romance, and rich scholarly detail swirl together in the first book of Deborah Harkness's best-selling All Souls trilogy.
