Discussion & Book Signing
In the face of a friendship bound by music and threatened by a shared crush, a life that no longer seems to fit after surviving a terminal cancer diagnosis, a clock counting down until the end of the world and only a limited amount of time to share an extravagant gift, and a terrible secret hidden below a promise to a friend and the condemnation of others, the four young women at the center of the latest novels by Kris Dinnison, Amy Reed, Lisa Schroeder, and Kristin Halbrook give us stories filled with laughter, courage, and honesty. Joining us for a reading and signing, Dinnison, Reed, Schroeder, and Halbrook will share their engaging new books with us.
Kris Dinnison learned to read when she was five years old. She grew up reading books nobody else had read and listening to music nobody else had heard of and thinking she was weird, which she kind of was. She spent nearly two decades as a teacher and librarian working with students from kindergarten to graduate school. The bulk of that time she spent teaching High School English while dreaming of becoming a writer. Now she lives and writes in Spokane, Washington. Visit her website at www.krisdinnison.net.
Amy Reed was born and raised in and around Seattle, where she attended a total of eight schools by the time she was eighteen. Constant moving taught her to be restless, and being an only child made her imagination do funny things. After a brief stint at Reed College (no relation), she moved to San Francisco and spent the next several years serving coffee and getting into trouble. She eventually graduated from film school, promptly decided she wanted nothing to do with filmmaking, returned to her original and impractical love of writing, and earned her MFA from New College of California. Amy currently lives in Oakland, California with her husband, two cats, and one dog, and has accepted that northern California has replaced the Pacific Northwest as her home. She is no longer restless.
Lisa Schroeder is the author of the teen novels The Bridge From Me To You; I Heart You, You Haunt Me, and its companion, Chasing Brooklyn; and the Oregon Book Award finalist The Day Before. She's also the author of the middle grade novel My Secret Guide To Paris, the Charmed Life series, and the It's Raining Cupcakes trilogy. Lisa is a native Oregonian and lives in Beaverton with her husband and two sons. When she's not writing, you will probably find Lisa reading, walking the dog, baking yummy treats, or at www.lisaschroederbooks.com.
Kristin Halbrook is the author of Nobody But Us. When she isn't appeasing her sense of wanderlust, she lives in Seattle, where gray skies and good coffee make ideal writing conditions, and where fine company is provided by her husband and a gaggle of pixies.
