Reading & Book Signing
Since its release in 2006, King Dork, Frank Portman's original novel about a geeky teenage boy dealing with the tortures and humiliations of high schoolall while trying to solve a half a dozen mysteries (including the one surrounding his father's death), track down a mysterious girl he met at a party, and start a rock bandhas become a cult classic. What makes King Dork even more fun is that Portman recorded five of the book's original songs, as if he were Tom, the book's main character. If we're lucky, Portman might even perform a few when he joins us for a reading and signing of the hilarious pop culture critique and heartfelt story that put him on the map. Who knows? He might also give us a sneak peek of the King Dork sequel due out later this year!
Frank Portman (aka Dr. Frank) is also the author of Andromeda Klein and the singer/songwriter/guitarist of the influential East Bay punk band the Mr. T. Experience (MTX). MTX has released about a dozen albums since forming in the mid-1980s. Frank lives in Oakland, California. Visit him online at frankportman.com, look for him on Facebook, and follow @frankportman on Twitter.
