Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer

When Sophie Brown, a city girl from a multi-racial family, moves to a farm with her parents, it's safe to say that she feels like a fish out of water. But when Sophie decides to try her hand at raising chickens, she discovers both something she enjoys and a flock of new friends as unique as she is. Told mostly through letters to her great uncle, abuelita, and other chicken owners—featuring informative information about actual chicken care—local librarian Kelly Jones' quirky debut about a determined girl and her super-powered chickens is a delight. Joining us for a reading and signing, Jones will share her fun new book with us.

Kelly Jones Kelly Jones has worked as a librarian and a bookseller, and is a raiser of (much-loved, but fairly ordinary) chickens. This is her first novel.
