Purple Café and Wine Bar's executive chef, Harry Mills, and sommelier, Chris Horn, join us for a fantastic evening at the bookstore during the Mill Creek Town Center Wine Walk to discuss food and wine pairings and their new book! Cook + Cork explores basic food and wine relationships, introduces the idea of the Mind Mouth, and lays out an essential Wine Wardrobe with food-friendly recipes to get you started on your way to cooking with pairing in mind.
Harry Mills was born in Flint, Michigan. He later relocated to Seattle, Washington when he was in high school. In his twenties, Harry attended the University of Washington and attempted a career in political lobbying. Soon his love of cooking turned his attention toward the brand new Culinary Arts program at Art Institute of Seattle where he graduated, and later taught for seven years. Upon returning to the restaurant industry, Harry became Chef of Purple Cafe and Wine Bar in downtown Seattle, where he remains chef today. His tenure at Purple Café taught him the practice of pairing wine and food.
Chris Horn has been Wine Director at Purple Café, Seattle since the day it opened in 2006 and has built one of the most interesting and dynamic wine lists in the country. In 2015, Chris was named "Sommelier of the Year" by the Washington Wine Commission.
