The Hope of Another Spring

Seattle-based art historian and curator Barbara Johns shares an important contribution to Asian American art history with this deeply researched new book. Hope for Another Spring, reveals the work of artist Takuichi Fujii, whose rarely seen drawings and paintings document his experiences in American internment camps during World War II. The centerpiece of the collection is Fujii's illustrated diary, which features translations and an introduction by the artist's grandson, Sandy Kita. Gain insight into the social and political context of a turbulent time in American—and regional—history from an expert.
