Discussion & Book Signing
Join us as we welcome Philip K. Dick Award-nominated authors Brenda Cooper and Adam Rakunas to celebrate the launch of their latest books at this reading, signing, and book launch party. The second book in Cooper's Glittering Edge series, Spear of Light begins as the post-human Next re-appear in the solar system that banished them and the people of planet Lym must defend their world and figure out what the Next are after. The second book in Rakuns' Windswept series, Like a Boss sees former labor organizer Padma Mehta pulled out of retirement when her arch nemesis, Evanrute Saarien, gets out of prison only to start a strike with much more behind it than first appears. Both highly-anticipated books come out on June 7.
Just added to the event: Madeline Ashby, author of Company Town.

Brenda Cooper is the author of Edge of Dark, Book One of The Glittering Edge series; The Creative Fire and The Diamond Deep, Books One and Two of Ruby's Song; and the The Silver Ship series. She is the author of Mayan December and has collaborated with Larry Niven (Building Harlequin's Moon). Cooper is a working futurist and a technology professional with a passionate interest in the environment.
Adam Rakunas was born, raised, and educated in Southern California. He now lives in the Pacific Northwest. These things are related. After a long and varied career as a parking lot attendant, video game engineer, fast food cashier, IT consultant, theater usher, online advertising specialist, and triathlon race director, Adam realized his dream: never to work with clients again. Fortunately, the arrival of his daughter and the collapse of the global economy allowed him to make that happen. When he's not parenting, he writes and plays cello and works toward fulfilling his other dream: to eat all the tacos in the world.
Madeline Ashby is a science fiction writer, strategic foresight consultant, anime fan, and expat. Her debut series about killer robots included vN and the sequel, iD. Her essays and criticism have appeared at BoingBoing, io9.com, WorldChanging, Creators Project, Arcfinity, and Tor.com. Since late 2014, she has been a regular columnist for the Ottawa Citizen.
